Ask A Scientist and Wonderfest Present: The Science of Star Wars!

Could lightsabers be a reality one day? Is light speed travel possible? Do planets like Hoth, Tatooine and Mustafar actually exist?

You're not the only one who has wondered how much of the world of Star Wars is science and how much of it is fiction. Now, just in time for the release of "The Force Awakens," let's answer some of these burning questions together.

Come join SoMa StrEat Food Park in collaboration with Ask a Scientist and Wonderfest on Wednesday, December 16th at 7pm for a night of curiosity, science, and Star Wars!

Our talented and entertaining host for the evening will be Dr. Seth Shostak, Senior Astronomer and Director of the Center for SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) research in Mountain View. Seth is as funny as he is insightful, and he has spoken for both Wonderfest and Ask a Scientist on numerous occasions. He is also the recipient of Wonderfest’s 2015 Carl Sagan Prize for Science Popularization. He will be speaking and answering questions in what is sure to be a delightful and thought-provoking evening for armchair scientists and hardcore Star Wars fans alike.
